Enchantment

I am often filled with a sense of wonder at all our world has to show us. If I can feel like I have awakened in a new place from time to time it makes life so much richer. I would call this feeling Enchantment and I composed the song by that title with this sense of wonder as my inspiration.

There is the simple enchantment a child experiences at seeing new things for the fist time. Little does this child know that this is simply growth and that this feeling will unfortunately subside into the knowing of life as something to be taken for granted. Hopefully this child will be raised with the imagination it takes to sustain that original sense of wonder and appreciation for all that is. When the parents of this child can see him or her as a conduit to remember their enchantment as children great things can occur in the lives of this family and of these individuals. An awakening of the sense of that other-worldly place that does not just exist in fairy tales but can be stimulated to life by good stories and books.

People of ancient times were much more in touch with enchantment by use of story telling and the retelling and embellishment of legends. There is a wonderful book by Orson Scott Card by the same name as my piano composition if you are loosing your sense of wonder maybe reading or rereading this or one of the many books written with great imagination could bring this back to life for you. Sharing the Chronicles of Narnia or The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe written by C. S. Lewis or A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle with a child would be a gift to readers or reader and listener.
